Four foundations
Everything else grows out of these four — the Word, the Savior, the rest of the Sabbath, and a living care for people.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word and the highest source of truth. Not human tradition, but Scripture answers the big questions: who God is, who we are, and what life is for. We read it together, we test everything we teach by it, and we try to live by it.
Salvation in Christ
Jesus is at the center of everything. He lived, died for us, and rose again — and forgiveness and new life are found in Him alone. Salvation can't be earned by good deeds or by "being good enough"; it's given by grace, as a gift received through faith. Good works come afterward, out of gratitude.
The Sabbath
God set apart the seventh day — the Sabbath — as a time of rest and closeness to Him, all the way back at creation. For us it isn't a list of "don'ts" but a gift: a day to stop, to be with family, with the community, and with God, laying the rush aside. Our worship services are held on Saturday.
Health and care
We believe the body is a gift from God, and we care for it: food, movement, rest, sobriety. But health is also about caring for the soul and for your neighbor. Serving people — feeding them, encouraging them, helping a new immigrant get settled — is just as much a part of our faith as prayer.

Answers to common questions about faith
Tap a question to open the answer. These are the things new people ask us most often.
Who is the God you believe in?
We believe in one God — eternal and loving — who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He created the world, sustains it, and cares about each person personally. God is not a distant force, but a Person you can have a living relationship with.
What does "salvation by grace" mean?
It means we can't earn God's love or "buy" eternal life with good behavior. Christ has already done everything that was needed. Our part is to receive that gift with trust and to let God change our lives. Good works matter, but they are the fruit of salvation, not its price.
Why do you gather on Saturday and not Sunday?
Because it was the seventh day, the Sabbath, that God blessed and set apart at creation — and it's the day Jesus kept. For us the Sabbath isn't a leftover from the past, but a living commandment and a weekly gift of rest. Our services are held on Saturday: the prayer gathering, Sabbath school, and the sermon.
What happens to a person after death?
The Bible compares death to sleep: a person rests until the day of resurrection. We don't believe in eternal torment — we believe in hope. When Christ returns, those who died in Him will rise to eternal life. So for a believer, death is not the end, but a waiting for a reunion.
Do you expect the Second Coming of Christ?
Yes — this is the heart of our hope. We believe Jesus will return visibly and personally to put an end to evil, suffering, and death, and to gather His children. We don't set dates, but we live as if it could happen soon — with readiness and joy rather than fear.
Why is baptism needed?
Baptism is a conscious step by someone who has decided to entrust their life to Christ. Through full immersion in water we symbolically die to the old life and are born into a new one. We baptize those who make this choice deliberately — so baptism is always preceded by studying the Bible and a personal decision.
Why are Adventists mindful of health and diet?
We believe that caring for the body is part of being grateful to God for life. Many in our community choose healthy eating, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, movement, and rest. It's not strict rules for their own sake, but a desire to live fully and to serve people with a clear head and real strength.
What is the church to you?
The church isn't a building — it's a family of believers who know each other by name and support one another in everyday life. Here people pray together, raise their children, help newcomers, and serve the city. We're part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church, and at the same time a living local community in Sacramento.
What if I know very little about the Bible — will I be welcome?
Absolutely. You don't need to know anything in advance or "measure up." Come as you are, with any questions and doubts. We'll be glad to get to know you, read the Bible together, and simply be there. Faith grows gradually — and we'll walk that road with you.
This is a short, human summary. You can read the full list of the 28 fundamental beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on the official Church website.
