Russian-speaking church in Sacramento

Two languages, one church family

We are a Slavic Seventh-day Adventist community in Carmichael. Many of us came to California from Ukraine and other post-Soviet countries. Parents worship in Russian, kids and youth often prefer English — and on Saturday both services run at the same time, under one roof.

Services in Russian and English

Every Saturday at 11:45: worship in Russian and in English side by side. Sabbath School at 10:00, prayer service at 9:00.

A place for every generation

Children’s Sabbath School, Pathfinders and Adventurers clubs, youth ministry, a choir, family and home groups.

Our story

From a Sabbath School class to a church

It began in the late 1990s, when the first immigrant families met as a separate Sabbath School class in Russian and Ukrainian. On September 25, 2004 the group became Sacramento Slavic SDA Church, with 89 members. Since 2012, under Pastor Roman Tsyganiuk, the church has grown a Pathfinder and Adventurer club, its own house of prayer and a media ministry watched around the world.

Questions

Before your first visit

Is the service in Russian or Ukrainian?

The main service is in Russian, with a parallel service in English.

Is this an Orthodox or Baptist church?

Neither — we are Seventh-day Adventists: Protestant Christians who keep the Sabbath on Saturday. Here is what we believe.

My kids speak English better than Russian. Is that okay?

Absolutely — that’s true for many of our families. Children and youth have their own programs, and the English service runs at the same time.

Do I have to become a member?

No. Come, look around, ask questions. Attending is free and nobody will pressure you.
